Launched with a focus on colorectal cancer, this worksite program was developed in 2010 with joint funding from KCP and the Kentucky Cancer Consortium using a successful evidence-based model developed by York Region Community and Health Services in Ontario, Canada.
Regional Cancer Control Specialists provide technical assistance, a tool kit, and materials to implement colon cancer prevention and screening education activities with 29 worksites statewide. Program evaluation has demonstrated the successful integration of colon cancer awareness activities within the worksites. The program is free and businesses and worksites are encouraged to contact the Regional Cancer Control Specialist in their district if they are interested in obtaining more information or implementing the program.
