When designing its Targeted Colon Cancer Outreach Program for Kentuckians, KCP adapted strategies from a highly successful statewide colon cancer awareness initiative in Pennsylvania.

Impressed with the success of ASPIRE (A Smoking Prevention Interactive Experience), developed by the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, KCP obtained funding to test the program in 12 Eastern Kentucky schools. KCP plans to work with additional school districts to introduce the program into their schools.

Works with community partners to develop new programs and conduct pilot projects focused on cancer prevention, tobacco cessation, increased screening, and other cancer issues. Assistance includes help with identifying funding sources, grant-writing, planning, implementation and evaluation.
