The Kentucky Cancer Program (KCP) works with partners to provide outreach services, mobilize resources, and build community capacity to address cancer issues and problems. Specifically, we:
Help plan community cancer screenings in collaboration with medical professionals, hospitals, and clinics.
Work with partners to plan and co-sponsor special national cancer awareness events, such as National Cancer Survivor’s Day, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and Lung Cancer Awareness Month.
Provide health professionals, cancer patients and their families, and the public with information and referrals to community, regional and state cancer resources.
Maintain Pathfinders, an up-to-date directory of community programs and services for cancer patients and their families. The directory is customized for each Area Development District and updated regularly.
Develop partnerships and coalitions with organizations and health professionals in the community to identify mutual interests, facilitate collaboration, and share resources for cancer prevention and control efforts.
Help community organizations and groups plan, implement, and evaluate cancer prevention and control activities and initiatives
